Rod Stewart furious with Jude Law for dumping daughter

Posted by Katrien in July 12th 2008

Rod Stewart is furious with Jude Law for breaking up with his daughter Kimberley.

The actor and Kimberley enjoyed a short romance recently, but Rod is now said to be livid after pictures of the ‘Alfie’ star on a date with model Lily Cole emerged this week.

A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “He loves Kimberley to bits and is very much the protective father.

“Obviously he wasn’t thrilled by the photos of Kim and Jude all over one another but he got over it pretty quickly. He likes Jude a lot and approved of him as a potential suitor for his little girl. Problem is, so did Kimberley. She thought something might develop between them.

“Now that Jude has been linked to Lily, Rod is upset on his daughter’s behalf. He’s spoken to Kimberley on the phone and told her what he thinks of Jude’s behavior. The next time he sees Jude he’s likely to give him a piece of his mind.”

This is not the first time the ‘Maggie May’ singer has jumped to his daughter’s defense.

Two years ago, he took to the stage at the GQ awards to call Russell Brand a liar after he claimed to have slept with Kimberley.

Russell later sought out the rocker to apologize.

Jude Law pictured driving while on phone

Posted by Katrien in July 12th 2008

Jude Law, the actor, could find himself in trouble after he was photographed driving whilst apparently using his mobile phone.

It is illegal for motorists to use a hand-held mobile but the star appeared to flout the rules as he drove near his home in Maida Vale, north-west London.

He allegedly manoeuvred the car with one hand on the steering wheel while holding the phone to his ear.

Using a phone while driving has been outlawed since 2003, with a maximum fine of £5,000 and up to nine points on a motorist’s licence.

Under tough new guidelines proposed last year, drivers could face a two-year jail term.

Law, 35, appeared deep in conversation.

Perhaps he was talking to Lily Cole, the 20-year-old model and face of Marks and Spencer.

Cole and Law were seen together recently at a Radiohead gig in London and have been on several dates since.

The actor, star of Cold Mountain and The Talented Mr Ripley, is not the first celebrity to be accused of breaching the mobile phone ban.

Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson was photographed allegedly driving along the M40 in Oxfordshire at 70mph with a mobile clamped to his ear.

Glamour model Jordan was fined £200 last month and given three penalty points after she was caught chatting on her phone while driving in London.

Exclusive: Lily Cole caught leaving new boyfriend Jude Law’s house

Posted by Katrien in July 6th 2008

Looking a little delicate, supermodel Lily Cole is pictured leaving Jude Law’s home yesterday.

After her night at the actor’s mansion the red-haired beauty paused at the gate, tottered to her car and disappeared up the road.

Her relationship with Jude has clearly blossomed since they went on a first date two weeks ago. Jude, 35, felt confident enough to leave Lily, 20, in his home alone.

He had emerged from the house in Maida Vale, West London, hours before her yesterday morning to meet actor pal Sean Pertwee.

The pair flew off to Los Angeles for a wedding, with Lily finally emerging at 12.40pm.

The night before the two had enjoyed a meal at a candle-lit bistro in Covent Garden, where they were seen holding hands.

One diner said: “Jude was keeping low-key. They were deep in conversation and making each other laugh.

“There was no blatant kissing but it was obvious they were more than just friends. Jude was being very affectionate and gazing into her eyes.

“Someone asked him to pose for a picture on their camera phone. He wasn’t too pleased - but he agreed, although he didn’t want Lily in the frame.”

It’s the second time in two weeks Jude and Lily have been spotted out together.

Last week they watched Radiohead at Victoria Park in Hackney, East London. Gig-goers were surprised to see 5ft 10in Lily towering over Jude.

But then, he’s always had a taste for the high life …

Bryan Adams sings for peace

Posted by Katrien in July 4th 2008

Bryan Adams will join Annie Lennox on stage at the Albert Hall for the Peace One Day concert in September.

The so-called Groover From Vancouver will perform a live acoustic performance with Annie for the campaigning gig.

The concert, on September 21, will also include a key note speech by Jude Law and a screening of the star-studded documentary The Day After Peace.

Peace one day founder Jeremy Gilley said Bryan’s decision was inspirational.

“Bryan Adams is an exciting addition to the musicians performing live to celebrate Peace Day. His music is loved worldwide and his long standing support of noble causes is an inspiration. We are honoured that he will be a part of The Peace One Day Celebration this year,” he said.

Jeremy’s film The Day After Peace will be screened during the evening. The documentary film follows his 10-year journey to establish an annual day of peace and to ask the countries of the world to recognise this day as an official day of ceasefire and non-violence. The film also features Kofi Annan, The Dalai Lama, Jude Law, Angelina Jolie, Annie Lennox and Jonny Lee Miller.

Last year’s Peace One Day Celebration sold out and featured performances from Annie, Yusuf (formerly Cat Stevens), Corinne Bailey Rae, James Morrison, Marc Almond and Kate Nash.

It was broadcast around the world to an estimated 100 million people.

Jude Law is a Demolition Dude

Posted by Katrien in June 30th 2008

Jude Law attends the “Demolition Party” held at the Royal Monceau in Paris, France on Thursday.

The 35-year-old British actor joined hundreds of other VIP guests in wrecking and smashing one of Paris’ grandest hotels in a performance-style “Demolition Party” before it closes for renovation.

The four-star hotel will reopen in Fall 2009 after Philippe Starck redesigns the entire building.

“We’re talking about a new luxury based on intelligence,” said Starck. “Intelligence is sexy.”

Kimberly Stewart makes new play for Jude Law

Posted by Katrien in June 22nd 2008

When my pal Kimberly Stewart was spotted playing tonsil tennis with hunky Jude Law in an Essex nightclub, I couldn’t have been happier for her.

After all Jude, 34, is one of our hottest exports and I wouldn’t kick him out of bed for dropping crumbs.

So it came as no surprise when pals of Rod Stewart’s leggy daughter told me she’s been calling father-of-three Jude to rekindle last month’s romance.

I’m told the Living TV star has left a string of messages and missed calls for the heart-throb actor, asking if he wants to pick things up where they left off.

Unfortunately it seems Jude’s either playing hard to get - or Kim’s just out of luck.

My mole revealed: “Kim’s a savvy girl. She knows her and Jude were never going to be a serious long-term thing.

“But she loved his company and they really seemed to hit it off when they got together last month.

“They had a great time and she got the impression he enjoyed himself as well so she gave him a buzz to see if he was up for meeting again.”

I’ve got my fingers crossed that it’s only a matter of time before these two are spotted out together again.

On paper the couple are an unlikely match. But when the pair first met at a party thrown by Jude’s ex Sadie Frost at her Primrose Hill pad - Kim was invited by mutual friend Kelly Osbourne - they hit it off immediately. They managed to keep things under wraps for a while. But the budding relationship was rumbled when the pair were spotted knocking back £170 bottles of pink champagne together at Essex nightclub 195.

They kissed on the dancefloor - and later were seen fumbling together on a neighbour’s lawn on the walk back to dad Rod’s mansion.

Let’s just hope Jude picks up the phone.

Cami at Cannes: Former Portsmouth resident finds peace with Jude Law

Posted by Katrien in May 27th 2008

Editor’s note: Cami J. Kidder lived in Portsmouth after graduating from Keene State College. Her film, “Store,” played during the New Hampshire Film Festival in 2006. She is now a student at Los Angeles City College, attending the Festival de Cannes with the American Pavilion’s internship program. She’ll be in France from May 10-27 to learn all she can about working a major film market with both short films and feature documentaries — and wrangling invites to fancy parties. And she’ll be sending back periodic updates for Seacoast Media Group readers.

Wow I can not believe I’ve been in Cannes for a week already! Once orientation was over we were given our work assignments. One could argue, and many did, that I drew the short straw by being assigned to wait tables in the restaurant.

I used to say after I moved to LA that if I ever had to work in a restaurant again I’d shoot myself in the head. But I will refrain from such an activity, as it is only for 2 weeks.

There are many service and support type jobs that we were given, but there are also cooler industry specific internships with Production Companies, Sales Agents and Distributors. My roommate Talia, who is here as a Business Intern, not Film Intern, was placed with Lakeshore Entertainment. My other roommate Stacey got high-end catering.

We serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner in the Pavilion working rotating 6-hour shifts. Because I am me, I am able to make it work in my favor. The people who were assigned to the Green Team, who go around to all the Marche (Film Market) buyers and sellers to encourage them to recycle and pick up items daily. They collectively grumbled the most about their internship placement. Like anything, opportunity is there, but sometimes it is a little more apparent than other times.

I had a strong marketing plan that I am employing. I wear a Tiara and/or Red Sox Jersey whenever I am at the Festival - including my waitress shifts. As you can imagine, nearly everyone I came into direct contact with would ask me why? Then I would give my ‘elevator pitch’ which is when you tell someone what your movie is about in 30 seconds or less. Very often they would have their interest peaked and would ask me more about the film.

The tiara is for Kissing Frogs – The Movie, the documentary I have in production that is about my quest to learn if soul mates exist and the biology of love. The Red Sox Jersey is for Bottom of the 9th, which is the documentary that my father and I are making about our trip to Red Sox Fantasy Camp.

In my off hours – which seem too few, I am on www.cinando.com which is a database of people involved in all aspects of film production – Distributors (buyers), Sales Agents (sellers), Production Companies (film makers), Executive Producers (investors), Finance Companies. And I was able to secure a Market Book, which is the full listing of all the people who bought a Market badge for the Festival de Cannes.

It is about 3 inches thick and has photos and contact info for anyone who is anyone. These are not for sale and only given to people who are in the book, but one-day in my section I was waiting on a couple who had one. I made a comment about how important they must be to have the book, and they offered me one.

They run the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival and are here searching for films to invite. Since there are 2 of them, they got 2 sets of Market books, so they were happy to pass it along. – SCORE!

I have made other good connections made this same way. In fact, a distributor for New Zealand and Australia wants me to send him a screener (advance full copy) of STORE for review and possible distribution. The same with a Swedish distributor. When we were given this work placement, the Big Cheeses kept saying “Everyone comes into the American Pavilion.” While I dispute that statement to a certain extent, Faye Dunaway and Julianna Moore did come in and sit in the VIP section.

There are lots of panels programmed everyday by Alex Ben Block, the former editor for the Hollywood Reporter. I sat in on one about the future of the New 3D. James Cameron joined the panel via SKYPE video phone. That was pretty cool.

But so far the best hook up I’ve gotten from the Ampav (as they refer to it) is one of the 20 available tickets to attend the World Premiere Press Screening of The Day After Peace. Jeremy Gilley spent 10 years on this documentary trying to get the UN to establish an official day for peace, spreading the word, and then trying to get people in every country to observe the day as a day of non-violence. It was a very impressive undertaking.

I am ashamed to admit that I did not know that the official day is September 21. Ironically, the UN unanimously accepted the resolution on September 10, 2001 and planned a ceremony to ring the peace bell the next on September 11.

There is footage in the film about the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center interrupting that ceremony. Anyway, I encourage everyone to go to www.peaceoneday.org to find out how to support peace. Jeremy’s plan/wish is to get a copy of the film in every school that, the non-violence that is practiced on each September 21 will become more prevalent and more expansive every day.

The day after the 20 of us who were picked in a raffle for the screening, got to meet with Jude Law and Jeremy for 30 minutes to ask questions of them about the film. Jude Law is in the film and traveled to Afghanistan with Jeremy. As we know, celebrity sells, sad as that is. Jeremy invited over 5000 journalists to a press conference at the Globe Theatre in London about the UN resolution in 2001 – 114 people showed up and he said, “they were mostly my friends.”

But after a few celebs lend their names and faces to the project and got directly involved (Angelina Jolie and Annie Lennox along with Jude Law), suddenly the press started paying attention. After the successful happenings on September 21, 2007 - they actually got the Talaban to agree to let aid workers pass safely through ALL areas of the country to vaccinate childen against polio!! – The Globe was packed.

Jeremy encourages all of us to make films because he truly believes his efforts would not have been successful if he did not have the camera running. Something to think about in the youtube – myspace – facebook world. The people have the power, so let’s us it for good. Not trying to get all soap boxy, but clearly this experience had a great impact on me, and I hope I can share some of that optimism so the cynics will get on board the peace train.

JUDE IN HOSTAGE SITUATION

Posted by Katrien in May 27th 2008

PREPARING to head out to Afghanistan to help film the documentary The Day After Peace, Hollywood actor Jude Law got more than he bargained for when he found himself in a hostage situation.

Jude, who joined film-maker and campaigner Jeremy Gilley in the war-torn country, was shocked to discover that he would have to go through a rigorous security test.

“The biggest realisation for me came in England before we left for Afghanistan when I was made to do the United Nations security test,” revealed the 35-year-old star of films such as The Talented Mr Ripley and Cold Mountain at the documentary’s premiere in Cannes.

“That was quite an eye-opener because we had to go through a mock kidnap and hostage profile including being broken down under interrogation. That really raised my eyebrows.

“After that, the next big moment for me was when we arrived in Afghanistan and I could sense where the front line was.”

A Law unto himself: Why Jude’s bed-hopping, wife-swopping ways are ruining his career

Posted by Katrien in May 27th 2008

Oh dear. Poor old Jude Law wants nothing more than to be taken seriously.

He detests being known as the pretty boy of cinema, preferring to think of himself as a proper thespian in the Laurence Olivier mode.

He hates being seen as a celebrity and followed by photographers, and is upset that people do not concentrate on his ‘art’.

Just last week he attempted to present himself as the biggest celebrity do-gooder since Angelina Jolie, with his latest film, which promotes nothing less than world peace.

But despite his best efforts, scandal appears to have a way of pursuing him.

A day after he talked seriously at the Cannes Film Festival about the documentary he has made with human rights’ advocate Jeremy Gilley, and described how he was in tears when he met Afghan girls who were defying the Taliban by educating themselves, it was revealed he had enjoyed a steamy night with Rod Stewart’s daughter Kimberly.

The details were excruciating. After a pub dinner with Kimberly’s father Rod and his wife Penny Lancaster, the pair went on to cheesy Essex nightspot the 195 Club, a favourite haunt of D-listers and footballers’ wives.

There, they downed glasses of £170-a-bottle pink champagne, and simply couldn’t leave each other alone.

Although the club’s bouncers tried to stop fans taking photos of the enamoured pair, grainy pictures have emerged showing Jude and Kimberly in a graphically passionate embrace.

They were later spotted rolling around on the lawn of a house, close to Rod’s home.

Jude was this week said to be mortified about the way news of his latest romance has emerged.

‘He is really upset and annoyed that this story has got out in such a way, particularly as all he wants to be doing now is promoting his documentary,’ said a source close to the actor.

‘He has had his parents ringing up from their house in France wondering what is going on and his ex-wife Sadie is terrified that someone is going to show their children one of the pictures.

‘She gently tried to take the mickey out of him about it, but he wasn’t having any of it and lashed out at her, saying there had been plenty of embarrassing pictures of her in the past.

‘When I saw him earlier this week he seemed really angry and the first thing he said was: “Don’t even mention it to me. I don’t want to discuss it.”

‘He really does try so hard to keep his private life out of the papers and hates being seen as a boy-about-town.

Jude says this embarrassment is as bad as the time it was revealed he was cheating on his fiancée Sienna Miller with his children’s nanny.’

It was through Sadie Frost, I can reveal, that Jude, 35, first met Kimberly  -  although it is unlikely Sadie ever envisaged any romance between her somewhat snobbish ex-husband and the 29-year-old blonde whose career highlights include posing in the nude, underwear modelling and starring in a reality show called Living With Kimberly Stewart.

Kimberly had been taken to a party at Sadie’s house by friend Kelly Osbourne, who is also pals with Kate Moss.

Jude was there and the two struck up an acquaintance.

The relationship progressed when they saw each other recently at Amika nightclub in Kensington, West London, and it has been a fully-fledged romance for the past two weeks.

Kimberly has been to Jude’s house, although she has not yet met his children, and there have been several other dates.

Jude, say friends, is ’smitten’  -  although most don’t believe it will last.

‘He loves gorgeous, slim blondes so she fits his type perfectly,’ said one. ‘But although Kimberly is a lovely girl, and despite her airhead reputation, she is also quite canny at making her own money.

‘I still can’t see this being much more than a fling.’

This is far from the first time the actor’s attempts to be taken seriously have been undermined by his messy private life.

Four years ago, when he should have been basking in the glory of a best actor Oscar nomination for his role in the film Cold Mountain, his ugly break-up with wife Sadie and false allegations of an affair with co- star Nicole Kidman stole the limelight.

Not long after that, it was revealed that he and Sadie, who have three children together, had engaged in wife-swopping with their friends, musicians Pearl Lowe and Danny Goffey.

Miss Lowe let it be known that the actor had become obsessed with her.

Jude appeared to get his life back on track when he found love with his Alfie co-star Sienna Miller.

For a time, the beautiful actress and the heart-throb actor were London’s golden couple.

They were happy to show off just how in love they were in public and within months the pair were engaged.

But the romance came crashing down when it emerged that Jude was sleeping with his children’s nanny behind Sienna’s back.

The nanny sold her story  -  one of the most excruciating details being that one of the actor’s children had found the pair in bed together.

Jude, who hates anything to do with the press, was forced to put out a humbling public apology to Sienna.

The ‘distraught’ actress got her own back by having a short affair with Jude’s close friend, Bond actor Daniel Craig.

Despite all this, the relationship continued but was so off-and-on that it became a living soap opera that everyone soon tired of watching.

To make things even more difficult for desperate-to-be serious Jude, in the middle of his anguish he was caught by foreign paparazzi in the nude at his parents’ house in the South of France.

Since the couple finally split two years ago, Jude has been determined not to embark on such a public romance again.

A three-month relationship with journalist Kim Hersov was over almost as soon as pictures of the pair emerged, and there was a brief fling with German underwear model Susan Hoecke.

He has instead thrown himself into work, producing as well as acting. However, none of his films has attained the critical acclaim of earlier works such as The Talented Mr Ripley and Cold Mountain and his biggest hit of the past few years, slushy romance The Holiday, is the type of fare he would previously have avoided like the plague.

The South London-born son of two teachers, Jude has always derided his looks, complaining that his appearance takes too much attention away from his talent as an actor.

‘In England I’m not called Jude Law, I have three names; I’m called Hunk Jude Law or Heart-throb Jude Law,’ he sneered in a typical comment.

‘That’s cheap language that is thrown around. That sums you up in one little bracket. It doesn’t look at your life. But if one looks beyond, there is actually a little bit more.’

‘But recently he has had to come to terms with the fact that the good looks he once seemed to resent are now slowly disappearing. His hairline is receding and he is not as muscular as he once was.

He has become a bit obsessed with how he looks,’ said one friend. ‘He seems to look in the mirror a lot more these days and is always asking if he looks all right  -  something he used to take for granted.

‘Although he has always tried to steer away from the big romantic lead, he is also, conversely, concerned that he won’t get the parts any more.’

He does, however, still remain in demand as an actor and has two films currently awaiting release while next year he will fulfil a lifelong ambition to play Hamlet in the West End .

He is also concentrating on being a father to his three children Rafferty, 11, Iris, seven, and Rudy, five.

His once acrimonious relationship with his ex-wife  -  police were called on several occasions to calm down their fights  -  is now so loving that she jokes to friends that she often feels like they are still married.

Although Law recently bought a large five-bedroom house in Maida Vale, five minutes by car from Sadie’s home, he still spends much of his time with her and his children, as well as his stepson Finlay, 17, from Sadie’s marriage to former Spandau Ballet star Gary Kemp.

The pair regularly holiday together with the children  -  recent jaunts have included trips to Cuba, Tanzania and Austria  -  while he seems to prefer being in her company to that of any other woman in his life.

‘Whenever they get back from a trip, Jude wants to book the next one straight away,’ said a close friend of Sadie.

‘He loves hanging around her house and invites her round to his when he has the children.

‘He seems happiest when he has his family around him. Although Sadie and Jude both always have other lovers  -  they particularly like to be with people younger than them  -  they are also still really close.’

Jude’s desire to spend so much time with his ex and their children comes because he is feeling particularly lonely and vulnerable, say sources.

He was devastated by the sudden death of his close friend and mentor Anthony Minghella, who died two months ago at the age of 54 from a haemorrhage, shortly after an operation to remove cancer of the tonsils and neck.

A source close to the actor said: ‘They worked together on three films and Jude saw Anthony almost like a father figure. Anthony gave him both professional and personal advice and they were great friends.

‘He really has been devastated by the loss and spends a lot of time in his house playing the saxophone, which he and Anthony took up when they were filming The Talented Mr Ripley.‘

Jude once said he had just seven friends and Minghella is not the only one to depart from the actor’s life. He has refused to talk to former best friend Rhys Ifans since the Welshman started dating Jude’s ex Sienna, and he purposely avoids going to any parties or clubs where they could be.

Miller and Ifans have been dating for a year and recently became engaged, although there have been rumours that the romance is now on the rocks.

Jude similarly fell out with Bond star Daniel Craig after he had a brief fling with Sienna.

One new friend is actor and serial womaniser David Walliams of Little Britain fame. The pair have become close over the past few months and it is David, in particular, who has been urging Law to put himself out there once again.

Walliams is friends with Kimberly  -  they once had a dinner date  -  and is likely to have helped encourage the couple in their fledgling romance.

The new pairing has also been given the thumbs-up by Kimberly’s father Rod. Jude is an eminently more suitable suitor than some of her previous loves, who include George Best’s playboy son Calum, music producer Cisco Adler and rock star Wes Scantlin.

The leggy blonde, who is Rod’s daughter from his marriage to Alana Stewart and who grew up in Los Angeles, has calmed down after being part of the notorious Paris Hilton/ Nicole Richie/Lindsay Lohan hard-partying Hollywood set.

And she recently announced she was hoping to settle down.

‘I love, love, love British guys,’ she said. ‘I love the accent, the manner, and I also love the British sense of humour. Hopefully I’ll find a British husband while I’m here.’

It is unlikely that her latest boyfriend will be that man. But then again, you never know with Jude.
